The water body on which the members paddle is situated at the Tyger Waterfront. The water body is approximately 300m long and 200m wide. Canoeing is a fantastic lifestyle and adventure sport. Races on rivers such as the Fish, Dusi, Berg, Breede and many others are a genuine skill and physical challenge with many adrenalin rushes. In the beginning it is a challenge to master the skill of paddling and your determination and reserve to succeed will be tested. Make no mistake canoeing it is not an easy sport, but extremely rewarding. A day on a river (and in nature) is the best therapy you can get for free. Once a paddler you will NEVER look at a river through the same eyes – GAURATEED!
The TVCC is about 50 members strong and has regular 10 km time trials. The club also has a number of canoes, paddles and life jackets to assist novices to learn the craft of paddling. Club members will introduce novices to paddling and assist them to achieve “basic paddling proficiency” and eventually “river proficiency. The club equipment is available at no cost until a new member has achieved “basic proficiency” after which they should acquire their own canoe, paddle and life jacket.
